Get Her Prom Look
Go glam-gothic like Lea Michelle
We absolutely love the way Lea Michelle has interpreted the current, Twilight-inspired trend for vampire chic with a cute and sassy twist. She’s gone for flirty, not fey, choosing a simple, black prom dress with fitted bodice and short, tutu skirt (if you’re not comfortable with having quite so much leg on show, Debut at Debenhams has a slightly longer version, with a flattering handkerchief hem, that will work just as well).
Black nail polish and scarlet lips are the Glee star’s only concessions to conventional gothic style. Rather than pile on masses of OTT occult accessories, she simply slips into a pair of super-shiny heels and lets her natural assets do the rest: glossy hair, glowing skin, and of course, oodles of attitude.
Pulling off this look is all about the preparation – for example, if you want tresses as sleek and shiny as Lea’s, you need to start early with the TLC, using a good quality, deep conditioning treatment weekly. And if, like her, you’d rather look like a healthy, beach babe than a genuine creature of the night, then why not treat yourself to regular applications of Charlotte Island - a bronzing body tint from Lush that’s subtle, easy to apply, and smells utterly delicious?
As far as make-up goes, leave the liquid liner for Morticia Addams wannabes. Instead, grab Jemma Kidd’s fabulous Strike A Pose palette for smokey eyes and a perfect pout.
