As rumours circulate that Katy Perry’s mum plans to release a tell-all book about her daughter (can you imagine, sauntering into Waterstones to find your crush chuckling with his mates about how you used to wet the bed?), she ditches the cupcake bra look (not one we recommend for prom) for a rather chic strapless mermaid gown. Katy looks rather glamorous at the pre-grammy gala in Beverly Hills as her figure hugging dress accentuates her curves and the textured silvery material reflects the light as it flicks out at the knee like a beautiful real-life mermaid tail. We think this similar style frock in pale pink from Clarisse is absolutely beautiful.
If you’re sporting a giant engagement ring from Russell Brand, then all other accessories become a little overshadowed. But if you’re not dating a comedian/movie star, a few glitzy bangles and a pair of drop earrings will set this look off nicely. We adore her little clutch, but we think we can do one better with this stunning beaded heart-shaped case.
Katy’s make-up is fairly dramatic. She opts for heavy brown eyeshadow with false eyelashes for her signature doey, wide-eyed appearance. We’re not too sure about the centre parting, but we love Katy’s long straight locks. If your hair is grazing your waist band, make sure you still get it trimmed regularly to keep the condition and spritz with heat protection spray before straightening, as ends can soon become dry and straggly.
